Eastern White Pine

Eastern white pine is a pale yellow tan to light red brown with occasional streaks of creamy white on some edges and ends. Knots can be large and dark brown. The grain is inconspicuous hard to define. Eastern white pine is soft. Pine flooring dents easily and deep, but this does not shorten the life span. Pine is chosen for it’s rich patina and history. Pine is a comfortable and welcoming floor once it is broken in.

Mostly clear with an occasional knot, fairly small in size. Boards can have colors ranging from pale yellow tan to light red brown. This grade can be considered more formal than the New England knotty. We are located in The Pine Tree State, Maine home to the best eastern white pine.

New England knotty pine

Lots of character and large knots very traditional to the original New England style homes. Sampsons finds Maine pine with the most original character for this grade.
